FUNCTION FIRST

The Morgan is inspired by the classic  “Type B” pilot's watch, where the minute track is enlarged in order for the pilot to better track the elapsed minutes. The centre of the matte black dial is sunken and is home to the printed hour markers. Meanwhile, the main body of the dial has a ridged texture, on top of which the oversized minute track is printed in Grade A Super-LumiNova and outlined in astronaut silver. The final set of dial markings is a full railroad minute track along the outer edge, with Lumicast batons applied at five-minute intervals. These dial markings are supported by alpha-style hour/minute hands outlined in royal blue and a seconds hand tip finished in beacon red. Making it both a highly technical and highly photogenic watch on your wrist.

Features

Just a minute - The Morgan puts legibility first with a hyper-legible "type B" dial that features an oversized minute track.

Flight Case - Each watch has a large 37mm dial housed in a snug 39mm case with short lugs, to deliver maximum dial size with no compromise on wearability. Cleverly achieving an exceptionally legible, yet remarkably comfortable watch for any wrist.

Faraday Cage - Thanks to our Faraday soft-iron inner cage, any potentially harmful magnetic fields are neutralised around the movement. Delivering eight times the standard level of anti-magnetic protection at ISO 764 certification: up to 500 Gauss.

Swiss Precision - The watch is powered by the robust Swiss Made Sellita SW200-1 automatic calibre. A real pillar of Swiss movements, renowned for its accuracy, dependability and longevity.

STORY

Named after Sir Morien Bedford Morgan - known as the "Father of Concorde" and one of the architects of the plan to build Britain's first supersonic passenger aircraft. Morgan was involved in choosing Concorde's swept-wing design, a critical design feature. In 1964 he said: "It's a lovely shape - one feels that if God wanted aircraft to fly he would have meant them to be this shape."

The Faraday cage is named after scientist Michael Faraday, who invented the concept in 1836. The cage's conducting material distributes any external electrical field around the cage, essentially creating a shield - so that it cancels the magnetic effect within the cage's interior.

Farer watches often come together in a manner that makes them both eminently wearable and clearly identifiable, and that’s more important than holding fast to the archetypes of dive watches, world timers, and even pilot watches. →

The design of early “three-hander“ pilot watches never spoke to me. They just looked too much like a dashboard instrument and not enough like a watch. Farer however took that design and transformed it into something that really grabbed my attention. →

A pilot watch is an essential addition to any watch lover’s lineup of timepieces and if you find yourself in the market for a new one right now, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better candidate for the job than these Farer Pilot Watches, which combine style and substance effortlessly. →
