THE DIVE COMPRESSOR, REINVENTED.

Farer’s Aqua Compressor range brings a dive watch technology out of the depths of history - the Super Compressor. Originally invented in the 1950s by Ervin Piquerez S.A., the super compressor was designed to achieve greater water resistance by using the water pressure exerted on the case to further compress the watch’s gaskets and thus make it more watertight. Farer has resurrected this novel technology for our Aqua Compressor collection, which uses modern materials such as a lightweight titanium case, sapphire crystal, and Super-LumiNova. With the Aqua Compressor collection, Farer is supporting the marine conservation charity Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. A portion of the profits from the sale of each Aqua Compressor will go to the trust to help protect the fragile state of our sealife through their programme of research. Creating meaningful change for the future of Scottish Hebridean marine life. We are proud to have already raised £40,500 with our first and second series, and with the third release of the Aqua Compressors, we aim to hit our target of £60,000. Thank you for your support.

Design

Compressor Innovation

Whether you’re looking for a dive buddy or a go-everywhere timepiece, the specification and hypoallergenic finish of the Titanium Series Aqua Compressor collection delivers a set of highly wearable and robust tool watches. Developed to put clarity at the forefront, the dial designs are a bold take on the Farer classic. With oversized split minute hand marking, used for quick identification of time elapsed against the internal bezel.

Water resistance

As the pressure on the outside of the case increases, the gaskets are compressed so that the case becomes more water resistant.

Front crystal

The sapphire double curved crystal (1) has a thickness of 2.3mm to resist pressure. Secured by a rectangular cross section gasket (2).

Movement crown

The movement crown (3) has 2 O’ring gaskets (4). The water resistance is 100m when the crown is unscrewed, by screwing the crown in, an additional gasket (5) is compressed to secure the full 300m rating.

DIVE FUNCTION

DIVE FUNCTION

As dedicated dive watches, the Aqua Compressors put function first. Clarity and accuracy are paramount, so the dials of each Aqua Compressor feature high-contrast colours and oversized hour markers, alongside a healthy application of Super-LumiNova. The same is true of the chunky pencil handset and the internal rotating bezel. Protecting each easy-to-read dial is a 2.2mm thick double-domed sapphire crystal with multiple layers of internal anti-reflective coating.

TITANIUM STRENGTH

TITANIUM STRENGTH

The curved case of the Aqua Compressor is made from titanium, which is the ideal material for a dive watch thanks to its extremely corrosive-resistant properties and light weight. Just like vintage super compressors, the case uses the compression principle: as the water pressure on the outside of the case increases, gaskets built around the key areas are naturally compressed, so that the case becomes more water-resistant the deeper you dive.

"While the case appears almost simple, it’s quite the piece of engineering."

TRUSTED MOVEMENT

TRUSTED MOVEMENT

Through the Aqua Compressor’s sapphire case back, you can see the elaboré grade Sellita SW200-1 that powers the watch in action. With a bespoke rotor that features a golden wave pattern, this Swiss automatic calibre is a tried and tested option that’s perfect for a dive watch. The movement has 26-jewels, a 4Hz beat rate, and a power reserve of approximately 38 hours and each movement has been adjusted for accuracy in three positions.
