Designed to show the time in two different time zones simultaneously with the aid of the fourth GM-Time hour hand and a quick-set 24-hour bi-directional bezel.
Built for life crossing time zones on land, sea or air, the versatile Charlton GMT Bezel watch brings a go-anywhere charm to the Farer GMT Bezel collection. Characterised by the deep ocean blue quadrant cut dial and angled track indexes, infilled with Super-LumiNova - showing off its bold design style. The Farer colour aesthetic is brought to life through multiple finishes and contrasting colour combinations across the four hands. Turning the external bi-directional 24-point rotation ratchet bezel brings a simple but powerful functionality to the watch. Made in two-tone dark and light ocean blue satin anodised aluminium, it shows the bisection of day-time and night-time for a second time-zone when read against the GM-Time hour hand.
NEARLY NEW - This watch is a “nearly new’ unit from our archive. As a result, it may have minor marks on the case. It has been carefully inspected and fully tested and comes with our full five-year movement guarantee.
PLEASE NOTE: The bezels of these Charlton units have aged, and the numbers on the aluminium inserts have discoloured to a yellow patina that is unique to each watch.
FEATURES
Reliable Mechanics - Powering this GMT is the Sellita SW330-1 automatic movement. This dependable calibre beats at a smooth rate of 28,800 bph (4Hz), contains 25 jewels and has a 42-hour power reserve. What’s more, this is the 'Top Grade' version of the SW330, so it’s been adjusted for accuracy in 5 positions.
Afterglow - To guarantee legibility under all conditions, the watch’s hands and markers have heavy applications of Super-LumiNova.
Turnaround - To track a second time zone the bezel is bidirectional and has a 24-hour scale protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal insert. When used with the coloured GMT hand, the wearer can read the time in another part of the globe.
STORY
Charlton Way, Crooms Hill and Maze Hill are the three roads that surround Greenwich Park in London, the fourth side is held by The Royal Naval College that backs on to the River Thames. The Park is where the Royal Observatory is situated - home to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). GMT dates back to 1884 when an international convention declared Greenwich, England as the ‘Mean Time’ against which the rest of the world’s time navigation would be compared. Still used as the global time zone alignment, it was popularised as a watch function by the globe-trotting Pan Am pilots of the 1950s.
